INDIBA
Wesley Chapel Physical Therapy & Associates is one of the select physical therapy clinics to provide INDIBA® Active radiofrequency therapy in the Tampa Bay Area.
INDIBA radiofrequency therapy is based on technology that activates the body’s natural repair mechanisms. It does this using a unique electrical and thermal technology delivered at a specific frequency of 448 kHz.
The treatment is entirely safe and non-invasive. INDIBA’s radiofrequency treatments are applied to the body using electrodes that work in a closed circuit using two modes: capacitive and resistive.
The capacitive mode works on the superficial layers of the skin, whereas the resistive mode delivers the current much deeper to the most resistive tissues.
What makes INDIBA incredible is that the current delivered by the INDIBA device triggers a series of reactions involved in cell repair and tissue regeneration. These include the increase in the replication of fibroblasts, keratinocytes, and osteocytes and the increased synthesis of collagen and elastin, improving the speed and quality of healing in almost any area of the body.
With 35 years of clinical scientific research studies and more than 300 scientific papers, INDIBA radiofrequency technology has been clinically proven to be both safe and highly effective.
How does the Indiba treatment work?
Indiba utilizes mono-polar radio frequency that generates both thermal and sub-thermal effects that accelerate the recovery of tissue and achieves these three effects:
Biostimulation (sub-thermal) Activates the cells metabolic rate, increases circulation, and activates fibroblasts.
Vascularization (thermal) Dilates blood vessels, increasing blood flow, oxygenating tissue and cells, increasing cell metabolism and encouraging drainage.
Hyperactivation (hyperthermal) Breaks down fat/fatty deposits, detoxifies and encourages toxin drainage, increases cell metabolism and encourages collagen production.

General FAQ:
BACK PROBLEMS
Low back pain is an extremely common complaint in our society today. Up to 80% of the population suffers from some form of low back pain in their lifetime. There are many causes of low back pain. Issues arise commonly due to placing too much repetitive stress on the structures of your back. These structures can be discs, joints, ligaments, and muscles.
Low back pain can develop gradually over a long period or start suddenly with strong intensity. Frequently, acute injuries arise from lifting with poor technique, lifting beyond our physical capacities, and performing repetitive activities in a poor posture.

Most people will experience neck pain at some point in their lives. Sources of pain in the neck can include muscles, joints, ligaments, and spinal discs. Pain can be localized or it can radiate. Frequently there are other associated symptoms as a restriction of movement, shoulder or arm pain, and headaches.
Many causes of neck pain are not serious. Poor posture at work, such as leaning into your computer, and during hobbies, such as hunching over your workbench, are common causes of neck pain. It is the prolonged strain on the tissues that causes a buildup of stress and can eventually lead to pain, muscle spasms, and/or numbness and tingling.

Whether throwing a ball, paddling a canoe, lifting boxes, or pushing a lawn mower, we rely heavily on our shoulders to do various activities. Normally, the shoulder has a wide range of motion, making it the most mobile joint in the body. Because of this flexibility, the joint is not very stable and is easily injured.
Many shoulder problems involve the muscles, ligaments, cartilage, and tendons. Athletes and skilled workers are especially susceptible to issues involving shoulder blade pain or shoulder joint pain.

HIP AND KNEE
Do you ever feel unstable, as if your knees may collapse underneath you? Do you ever experience sharp pains in your hips and knees that make daily tasks difficult? Does standing up after a lengthy amount of time pose a challenge? If so, physical therapy can help. We can determine the best treatment methods to improve your function and reduce or eliminate your hip and knee pain.
Physical therapy is a safe conservative way to both diagnose and relieve pain. In many cases, it can eliminate the need for pain-management medications or invasive surgical interventions.
The hip joints are ball-and-socket joints while the knees are hinge joints. Both joints act as a support system for your upper body weight. Since the hips and knees are parts of the same kinetic chain, they make up a combination of weight-bearing joint, and they must work together. Your hips and knees rely on numerous muscles and tissues to maintain their proper function and mobility. When things are not working correctly, you may start to experience hip or knee pain.

Falls are the number one cause of injury and hospital visits due to trauma for age 65 and older. It is estimated that one in three older adults falls each year. Falls among older adults is a serious issue in the USA. Fall risks can be reduced with an appropriate physical therapy program.
Research has shown that elderly people who participate in a safe exercise program that combines both strength training and balance are less likely to have fall-related injuries and will improve overall strength.
Goals of the balance and falls prevention program at Wesley Chapel Physical Therapy & Associates include:

DIZZINESS / VERTIGO / VESTIBULAR REHABILITATION
Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise-based program to reduce dizziness and improve balance.
The sensation of dizziness can occur when standing still or changing positions. The symptoms can be constant or episodic in nature. Sometimes symptoms can last seconds, minutes or hours.
Dizziness is generally a sign of a mechanical problem and can stem from an inner ear disorder or neck dysfunction. In more serious conditions, dizziness can be due to a neurological condition.
Patients typically referred for vestibular physical therapy are individuals diagnosed with BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo), vertigo, dizziness, imbalance, Meniere’s syndrome, neck-related dizziness and headaches. Patients who have had a stroke or brain injury can also benefit from vestibular physical therapy.
Vestibular Rehabilitation may help with the following symptoms:
- Dizziness or blurry vision with head movements
- Vertigo/spinning
- Neck stiffness
- Neck pain
- Imbalance / poor balance
- Headaches
- Frequent falls
Our therapists at Wesley Chapel Physical Therapy and Associates are trained in vestibular rehabilitation. They may help you to reduce your dizziness and reduce your risk for falling.
HEADACHES
Headaches can originate from many sources, including the neck. Headaches of neck origin are called cervicogenic headaches.
Cervicogenic headaches tend to originate from the upper cervical spine, a region that has nerves supplying the head and scalp, as well as muscles that attach directly onto our skull. Extensive tension or strain to the muscles, ligaments and discs in this region can cause pain as well as light-headedness or dizziness.
Typically, these headaches are felt at the base of the skull or behind the eye, but symptoms can vary significantly.
Cervicogenic headaches are generally accompanied by other symptoms, such as limitations in neck movements and neck pain. They are frequently seen in people who spend prolonged periods with poor postures, such as working all day at computers or driving. They are occasionally associated with stress and tension. They can also be caused by traumatic injuries to the neck.
Our therapists use a wide range of treatment approaches to achieve your goals including:
- McKenzie Method

TMJ DYSFUNCTION
Are you having difficulty chewing or yawning? Do you have jaw pain? Do you hear a clicking noise when you open and shut your mouth? If so, these may all be symptoms of Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction, also known as TMJ Dysfunction. TMJ Dysfunction is a condition that causes pain and stiffness of the jaw joint and its surrounding muscles. This can make it very difficult to open your mouth, talk, yawn, and chew.
The temporomandibular joint connects the jaw to the skull. If there is stress, strain, or overuse to this joint, TMJ dysfunction can develop. The temporomandibular joint is a complex structure comprised of bones, tendons, and muscles that may cause you to feel pain on one or both sides of the jaw.
